In a story that is sure to fire up the pole shift theorists, National Geographic is reporting a new study that shows the Earth’s magnetic field is shifting rapidly:

The changes “may suggest the possibility of an upcoming reversal of the geomagnetic field,” said study co-author Mioara Mandea, a scientist at the German Research Centre for Geosciences in Potsdam.

Earth’s magnetic field has reversed hundreds of times over the past billion years, and the process could take thousands of years to complete.

A bizarre story has emerged where three leaders of the Durham County Democratic Party have been arrested in connection with the rape, starvation, and imprisonment of a couple who had expressed interest in their self-described New Age and Satanic spiritual interests. Amazing.

The North Carolina case of an alleged satanic torture involving a Democratic Party official and her husband has now expanded to include a third suspect, an even higher-ranking Democrat.

Diana Palmer, the first vice-chairwoman of the Durham County Democratic Party, joins her political colleague Joy Johnson, the third vice-chairwoman of the party, and Johnson’s spouse, Joseph Craig, in facing charges.

Palmer, 44, surrendered to police in Durham, N.C., this afternoon and was charged with being an accessory after the fact of assault with a deadly weapon. She’s being held at the Durham County Jail under $95,000 bail.

Additional charges were also filed today against Johnson and Craig.

Craig, 25, is now charged with second-degree rape, second-degree forcible sexual offense, three counts of second-degree kidnapping and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon for incidents in January and May. Johnson, 30, is charged with four counts of aiding and abetting, as she’s accused of watching and encouraging her husband commit the alleged abuse of another couple who reportedly shared an interest in Satan worship.

Using genetic engineering and embryo selection, parents will soon be able to engineer the children they want, and discard the ones they don’t. This new eugenics is championed by today’s scientific glitterati and they hope it will deliver a society of enhanced humans with higher IQs, greater athletic abilities, stronger character, and better morality. So if you are a factory-laboring religious adherent who likes guns, so long.

We are witnessing the emergence of a new eugenics every bit as dangerous as that championed by Hitler.

Today we learn that a UK professor, who firmly believes in genetically enhancing our way to the ideal human, has received over a million dollars to launch a new eugenics center. One blogger claims this is the way of the future, and only scientists who jump on board this Hitlerian project will receive fame and fortune:

And with the money and the prestigious academic affiliation comes awesome power to influence young and bright minds who are society’s leaders of tomorrow. And, being very bright, they see which way the financial winds are blowing and what they need to believe–or say they believe-in order to climb the ladder of success.

What chance do you think there would be for someone as bright as Savulescu, and with the same credentials, to receive such major funding and Oxford offices if he held opposite views? Good luck with that and don’t call us, we’ll call you.

But that’s the high academy/foundation nexus today. And these folk are determined to tear down what they consider the ancien regime. And unless “the folk” stand up to it, the forces that be will bulldoze the very concept of universal human rights directly into a landfill–claiming as they go that they are the “enlightened” ones, the “brights.”

This is exactly how it was with the first eugenics movement. The people who paid were not the connected but the powerless. And those who urged their sterilization and even killing were at the top of the social/academic/political/legal and even liberal religious heaps.

As geopolitical problems around the world continue to escalate, the US prepares for nuclear attacks against its cities.

The United States has begun preparing for the possibility that a terrorist could detonate a nuclear device in a major American city. U.S. officials appeared before a Senate panel Thursday to discuss the effort. VOA’s Deborah Tate reports from Capitol Hill.

The Senate Homeland and Governmental Affairs Committee heard sobering testimony about the impact of a nuclear attack on the United States.

Senator Joe Lieberman, who calls himself an independent Democrat, is committee chairman:

“A nuclear attack on our homeland would be sudden and swift. It would be devastating and deadly. Failure to develop and test a comprehensive plan for dealing with the aftermath would only magnify its impact,” he noted. … Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Administrator David Paulison says federal funds have gone to communities across the nation to help train emergency personnel.

“State and local governments have received $23 billion in preparedness grants to build all-hazardous capabilities. In the past four years alone, fully $350 million in Department of Homeland Security grant programs have been invested in projects related to radiological and nuclear preparedness as well as decontamination,” he said.

Paulison says his agency is planning a national exercise in 2010 to respond to a scenario in which a 10-kiloton nuclear device is detonated.

Assistant Defense Secretary for Homeland Defense Paul McHale says the Pentagon is doing its part to train rapid response teams.

“We will have 20,000d military personnel prepared for the primary mission of domestic, catastrophic response. These are capabilities that did not exist on September 11,” he added.

The hearing was the latest in a series on the potential for a nuclear attack on U.S. soil. Senator Lieberman says his committee plans another hearing later this year that will focus on the steps the federal government has taken to prevent such an attack.

In heralding a hopeful peace agreement between Jews and Arabs the top PA negotiator said an agreement would be more important to the holy land than Jesus. Is it odd that he would insult one of the regions three main religions? I wonder how it would have gone down if he had said it would be more important to the region than Mohammed?

Speaking at a conference organized by the ‘Peres Center for Peace’ at Tel Aviv University, the top negotiator for the Palestinian Authority was joined for a discussion on the recent renewal of Israeli negotiations with Syria by MK Yossi Beilin (Meretz) and former director-general of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Dr. Alon Liel.

“Our goal is to reach an agreement. Regarding the core issues: Jerusalem, the refugees and the borders – all these have solutions. This is the time for decisiveness. We will not go back to talks over temporary arrangements or temporary border, we intend to reach an agreement and this is possible for all the core issues. We need to make decisions, and (Prime Minister) Olmert and (Palestinian President) Abbas are capable of making them.

“The ‘Israeli and Palestinian leaders who reach an agreement will be more important to region’s history than Jesus,” said Erekat.

A rash of small earthquakes has prompted concern in Israel:

A strong earthquake could soon rock Lebanon and parts of Israel, authorities said on Monday, urging health officials in northern Israel to make preparations for such an event.
“The probability of an earthquake of a magnitude of up to six on the Richter scale, originating in Lebanon and being felt in Israel has increased,” the health ministry said in a letter sent to medical officials in northern Israel.

Since February, abnormal seismic activity has been noted in southern Lebanon, which had suffered some 500 minor earthquakes in a three-month period, health ministry director-general Avi Yisraeli said in the letter.

“In May, the tremors have become more intense and were felt in northern Israel,” he said adding that “should an earthquake of such magnitude hit northern Israel it may cause substantial infrastructural damage in the area.”

The fertility decline in the western world, fueled by the liberal notion that having kids is stupid and people should just act like teenagers their whole lives, is apparently spelling destruction for our way of life. Generations of men and women who put having a family on the back burner for more immediate pursuits are complicit in the destruction of western civilization…we kid you not.

A recent study by a prestigious national security think tank warns that “rapid and extreme” demographic change due to falling birth rates in the industrialized world may increase security risks in the coming decades.

The study also warns that such demographic changes could undermine the “ability of the U.S. and its allies to maintain global and national security.” The report says the world is irreversibly headed for “demographic transformation of historic and unprecedented dimensions” that will not be corrected “in our lifetime.”

Meant by its authors as a “wake up call", “The Graying of the Great Powers: Demography and Geopolitics in the 21st Century” was published by the Washington DC-based Center for Strategic & International Studies. The report argues that the influence of the developed world as a whole will contract as its workforces and economies shrink.

Neopaganism is seeing its number of adherents skyrocket. While some claim the religion is just a repackaged hodge-podge of ancient rites and practices sold to a modern age, others believe it is based in authentic pre-Christian practices. But excatly what those practices are is still a mystery.

Walter, 33, who became a druid at age 18, first took a literal approach and bought land near the Wyoming state line where he could hunt. Then he and his wife, Kantis, who calls herself a generic pagan, were inspired to open a community center/coffee shop, Witches Brew, across the street from Berkeley Lake Park in north Denver.

Walter picks up litter and watches over the park. In a part of the grove sacred to him, he leaves spiritual offerings, sometimes a bottle of whiskey, to ward off wee-folk mischief.

The park, for its part, provides a stream of patrons to support the coffee shop. The Walters’ regular customers, however, come from Denver’s vibrant and diverse neo pagan community.

“It’s my modern twist on druidry,” Walter said.

Druids were the priests of the ancient Celts. The essence of Walter’s modern druid faith, he said, is that “people’s perception of reality is what makes reality.” He said he religiously avoids negative thoughts.

Walter runs a coffee shop with varied banners hanging from the ceiling, including a rainbow peace sign. But diversity is apparently the norm, as the “real” history of the Druids is obscure:

Walter’s friend, 28-year-old J.J. Steelman, teases him about his grove and remarks that no one really knows what ancient druids did.

Steelman is also a druid. He was born into a family, he said, that “has never been Christian.”

“Being a pagan means I’m free,” said Steelman, who roundly rejects Walter’s rituals.

Whether organized or disorganized, the pagan revival is stronger than ever since its blossoming in the 1960s hippie counterculture and its cross-pollination by the New Age movement in the 1980s.

Missouri, in a prescient move that probably has some people scratching their heads, has made it illegal for employers to require chip implants in their human workers. This is a wise move and we can only hope other states soon follow. Implanting a chip, ostensibly with identity and location-tracking technology, can easily lead to massive abuses.

Gov. Matt Blunt signed a bill Thursday prohibiting companies in Missouri from forcing workers to have microchips implanted in their bodies.

You read that right. In Missouri, it’s now illegal for businesses to require employees to have a microchip embedded under their skin.

“When you’re forced to have a chip put in you as a condition of employment, that’s taking away your civil liberties and your freedom,” said Rep. Jim Guest, a King City Republican.

Guest added the microchip language to a bill concerning overtime and disability benefits. Next year, he said, he will introduce a bill to prohibit all microchip implants in humans.

Implanted chips are commonly used to identify pets and track wild animals, but they have also been approved for use in humans.

Only a few hundred people nationwide have been voluntarily implanted with the devices, and mandated microchips are virtually unheard of in Missouri or anywhere else. But three other states already prohibit mandatory implants.

Do you blab on your cell phone all day? Texting? Can’t seem to drive anywhere without it glued to your cranium? Well, you might want to change your ways before you develop brain cancer:

Mobile phones could kill far more people than smoking or asbestos, a study by an award-winning cancer expert has concluded. He says people should avoid using them wherever possible and that governments and the mobile phone industry must take “immediate steps” to reduce exposure to their radiation.

The study, by Dr Vini Khurana, is the most devastating indictment yet published of the health risks.

It draws on growing evidence – exclusively reported in the IoS in October – that using handsets for 10 years or more can double the risk of brain cancer. Cancers take at least a decade to develop, invalidating official safety assurances based on earlier studies which included few, if any, people who had used the phones for that long.

Earlier this year, the French government warned against the use of mobile phones, especially by children. Germany also advises its people to minimise handset use, and the European Environment Agency has called for exposures to be reduced.

The attempt to abort a baby at 35 weeks gestation failed, and when the baby was extracted alive it was stabbed to death. A baby nearing its eight month is viable outside the womb. What do you call it when a child is outside the mother and is still alive, and then is stabbed? You call it murder.

A murder investigation has been opened involving Shelley Sella, a California abortionist employed by George Tiller, who according to a former employee is reported to have intentionally stabbed to death an infant born alive during an abortion at Tiller’s Women’s Health Care Services abortion clinic in Wichita, Kansas. … “Ms. Davis gave us a very specific eye-witness account about the incident,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “We were told that the baby was 35 weeks gestation at the time of the abortion. The baby came out and was moving. Sella looked up at Ms. Davis, then picked up a utensil and stabbed the baby in the left ribcage, twisting the utensil until the baby quit moving. At 35 weeks, there is no doubt about viability. This is murder in anybody’s book.”

The Times of India is reporting that Barack Obama is a Lord Hanuman devotee and carries around a locket of the god. An Obama representative has confirmed the candidate is soon to receive a huge, gold-plated version of the idol.

Obama’s representative Carolyn Sauvage-Mar on Tuesday received a gold-plated two-feet-high idol which she will pass it on to the Obama after it is sanctified.

The idol is being presented to Obama as he is reported to be a Lord Hanuman devotee and carries with him a locket of the monkey god along with other good luck charms.

An hour-long prayer meeting to sanctify the idol was earlier organised at Sankat Mochan Dham and by Congress leader Brijmohan Bhama, Balmiki Samaj and the temple’s priests.

“Obama has deep faith in Lord Hanuman and that is why we are presenting an idol of Hanuman to him,” said Bhama.

Accepting the souvenir, Sauvage-Mar, who is chairperson of Democrats Abroad-India, said, “Obama has extended his thanks for the support.”

Apparently knowledge of the 2012 Apocalypse is quite popular in Amsterdam. Most believe doom will coincide with the end of the Mayan Calendar. From the story:

Thousands of people in the Netherlands say they expect the world to end in 2012, and many say they are taking precautions to prepare for the apocalypse.

The Dutch-language de Volkskrant newspaper said it spoke to thousands of believers in the impending end of civilization, and while theories on the supposed catastrophe varied, most tied the 2012 date to the end of the Mayan calendar, Radio Netherlands reported Monday.

De Volkskrant said many of those interviewed are stocking up on emergency supplies, including life rafts and other equipment.

When you see news about issues important to people, yet apparently unimportant to either political party, such as unchecked illegal immigration, rising inflation, energy instability, a push for a North American Union, and genetically engineered agriculture, do you wonder if there are a group of people whose interests seem to be more important to politicians than yours?

The vast majority of Americans want something done about the rampant illegal immigration over the last decade, but neither political party will do a thing about it. Ditto when it comes to free-trade agreements and the establishment of a North American Union. Ditto when it comes to genetically engineered produce and cloned meat hitting grocery store shelves.

Why do the representatives of the people ignore the people on so many key issues? Because to Washington-insiders, and the business elite, these things are just fine, and politicians answer to them, not us. In a highly-charged article today a concerned citizen sounds off on what seems to be a government agenda that is not what the citizens want:

Unfortunately, despite the government’s responsibility to protect citizen’s rights, it is blatantly obvious that the government is following an alternative, deliberately destructive agenda including: rural cleansing of the resource-producing population, economic destabilization, runaway inflation, unrestrained immigration, illegal surveillance, the NAU, deteriorating infrastructure, ethnic disparity, de-population through war, disease, toxicity, and chemtrails; selective response to “natural” disasters, destruction of the middle class, seizure of private property and obliteration of God-given liberties – all at the hands of an elite ruling class – crony monopoly capitalists and war profiteers, intent on stealing and controlling the earth’s resources, a contrived diminishing food supply and the surviving useless eaters, still obedient and moderately productive. A “doctor” in Australia says that at the first signs of Alzheimer’s disease you should avoid getting a diagnosis, and instead just kill yourself. This is the culture of death, this is the “dignity” that suicide proponents want to bring to the world. To encourage people to kill themselves without seeing a doctor for a diagnosis, just because maybe they have some short term memory problems, is nearly murder. The push for euthanasia is part of the overall trend in treating people like commodities to be disposed of at the slightest sign of inconvenience. It is reflected in contraception and abortion, in euthanasia, and in how doctors routinely overprescribe drugs and surgery and treat patients like a piece of meat with a number. It’s the degradation of human dignity, and with the advent of genetic engineering, it’s getting worse.

Euthanasia provider and activist Dr. Philip Nitschke has released controversial statements that essentially instruct anyone who believes they are suffering from Alzheimer’s disease to avoid obtaining a diagnosis in favour of seeking a doctor who can help them commit suicide as quickly as possible. … “Don’t go to your doctor. Don’t have the tests done. And if you do have the tests done that show that you’re starting to lose mental capacity, make sure it is not recorded,” said the doctor, indicating that those who contact Exit International would be receiving the same message.

“We’ll be advising people not to (declare they have Alzheimer’s),” he said.

“A person with Alzheimer’s disease, means that they may have to move more quickly, and end their lives more quickly before this whole issue of capacity to make a decision comes to the fore,” he finished.

Iran claims that the nation cannot be threatened by Israel, they are perfectly secure, and wil retaliate with deadly force if provoked:

“They do not have the capacity to threaten the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini told a news conference. … Iran’s defense minister on Sunday accused Israel of “psychological warfare", but said Tehran would give a “devastating” response to any attack.

On Friday, the U.N. nuclear watchdog chief, Mohamed ElBaradei, said a military strike on Iran would turn the Middle East into a fireball and prompt Tehran to launch a crash course to build nuclear weapons.

An interesting analysis of societal trends and the future of America appears today. After building the country through hard work, a strong family center, and traditional values, our society took a radical turn away from these things after World War II. But based on the work of a British anthropologist, such a change in our society may spell our doom:

A friend recently asked: “How long do we have left as a society?” In answer to that question I informed her about an interesting and comprehensive study that a renowned British anthropologist, Joseph Unwin, PhD., presented to the British Psychological Society in 1935. Unwin sought to prove that the traditional monogamous model for marriage was not essential to the maintenance of a healthy society. After studying 86 different cultures, across time and continents –and much to his surprise — he came to the inescapable conclusion that the traditional male-female monogamous model for marriage was indeed the best foundation for a healthy and productive society.

Unwin found that societies that adopted this model typically took about three generations to reach their peak of productivity and progress. After that, frequently, a gradual development of complacency and licentiousness would take place and what he described as an ”outburst of homosexuality” would sometimes occur. When that happened, and the society started to move away from the traditional model of male-female monogamous marriage as its foundation, it would begin to unravel. It would then take another three generations of deterioration from that point for the society to collapse.

The author believes this change came about in America after World War II. Can we as a society reverse the trends that have torn apart our families, cheapened human life (especially in the womb), and led to the belief that maturity consists of perpetual adolescence and instant gratification of any desire? The author goes on to cite trends in birth-control, several supreme court cases, including Roe v. Wade, no-fault divorce laws, and general trends in our cultural life that have led to our present state of things, which is not good.

Of course, the downward slide of our society has been greatly accelerated by the explosion of pornography on the Internet which has weakened the natural romantic attraction between young people and replaced it with unbridled selfish sexual gratification. This has further lessened the natural resistance and even revulsion to various sexual perversions. Indeed, just this past week we have witnessed the sitting Chief Appellate Justice of the largest federal judicial district in the nation, posting disgusting sexual images on his website (involving people and animals) while presiding over a pornography trial involving beastiality and extreme fetishes. Where does all of this lead us — to same-sex “marriage,” of course. And how much time do we have left by Unwin’s standards — I would say that we are at least at the end of the second generation of deterioration, if not already well into the final third generation before the collapse.

The author finishes with some thoughtful comments on the sanctity of the male-female relationship which is necessary for the creation of children:

Finally, since it is only in our maleness and femaleness that we are made in the image and likeness of God, the destruction of the concept of gender is perhaps Satan’s greatest accomplishment. Moreover, since the sacramental marriage of a husband and wife is used to image the relationship of Christ and His Church, even the idea of same-sex ”marriage” is a sacrilege. Therefore, separate and apart from the seemingly accurate prognastications of Professor Unwin, I just don’t see how a God of Justice can tolerate such a diabolical mockery of His divinely ordained institution of marriage for very long.

After we learned this week that illegal immigrants can be detained in the EU without trial for 18 months, we now learn that the parents of a homeschooling family in Germany have been sentenced to three months in prison for the “crime” of homeschooling their children. One of the most draconian visions of our modern era is the idea that the state, and only the state, has the right to control what is taught to young children. They do it in the name of welfare but it is really state power. In the United States the notion that kids would be forced into government schools would have shocked the founding fathers. Homeschooling is a growing trend in all walks of life, from conservative to progressive, because of parental frustration with large-scale one-size-fits-all bureaucratic schooling. Homeschooling is illegal in Germany under a law dating back to the Hitler era. Homeschooling families in the country have faced increasing persecution in recent years, with police in several cases physically transporting children to school and even removing one teenager from her parent’s care.

A spokesperson for the German homeschool advocacy group, Netzwork-Bildungsfreiheit, commented on the mandatory public school attendance laws, which deem homeschooling families to be in breach of the state’s criminal code.

“It is embarrassing the German officials put parents into jail whose children are well educated and where the family is in good order,” wrote Joerg Grosseleumern. “We personally know the Dudeks as such a family.”

WND also reported that Judge Peter Hobbel, who originally imposed the fines on the parents, criticized the school system for denying the requests of the parents to have their “private school” recognized.

In a previous WND article, it was noted that the Dudek’s wrote a letter to the HSLDA regarding a new law that gives German authorities the right of “withdrawal of parental custody as one of the methods for punishing ‘uncooperative’ parents.” The law is essentially enacted when “child abuse” is suspected. Conveniently, German courts have consistently deemed homeschooling a form of child abuse.

The eugenics movement was largely hailed by socialists, and today we see the same mentality at work among those who care so much for the world they want to forcibly sterilize women in developing countries and take radical control over the ability for people to procreate. Many would also like to see genetic selection to shape babies into our liking, and also to use abortion as a means of selecting healthy offspring. Today’s advocates for genetic engineering and abortion are no different than yesterday’s socialist eugenics supporters. A new article appears today discussing a recent exhibit that highlights the widespread support eugenics received from the “progressive” community:

The collection centres on eugenics, the notion that humanity can be improved and perfected by selective breeding and the elimination of individuals and groups considered to be undesirable. Entitled Deadly Medicine: Creating the Master Race, [the exhibition] reveals how it was not thoughtless right-wing thugs as much as writers and scientists, the intellectual elite, who led the movement.

The exhibit is important, accurate but, regrettably, long overdue. It also fails to stress just how much the socialist left initiated and supported the eugenics campaign, not only in Germany but in Britain, the U. S. and the rest of Europe. Playwright George Bernard Shaw, English social democrat leader Sydney Webb and, in Canada, Tommy Douglas were just three influential socialists who called, for example, for the mass sterilization of the handicapped. In his Master’s thesis The Problems of the Subnormal Family, the now revered Douglas argued that the mentally and even physically disabled should be sterilized and sent to camps so as not to “infect” the rest of the population.

It is deeply significant that few if any of Douglas’s left-wing comrades in this country or internationally were surprised or offended by his proposals. Indeed the early fascism of 1920s Italy, while unsavoury and dictatorial, had little connection with social engineering and eugenics. The latter German version of fascism was influenced not by ultra conservatism in southern Europe but, as is made clear in the writings of the Nazi ideologues, by the Marxist left.

What is so sad is that modern-day “progressives” who believe society can be centrally planned, and that reproduction should not just be a choice between couples, but controlled by a society needing to reduce its population, clearly reflects the eugenic mindset. The ideals of yesterday aren’t far from the ideals of today:

Population would be rigidly controlled, with forced abortion for those who were not of the right class and race. Religion would be banned, children would be raised in communes and all would be well. The old and the ill would, naturally, have to be done away with and doctors would be given the authority to decide who had a right to live, who had a duty to die.
