Ohio State Gets Religion: Satanism, Wicca Big Hits on Campus
Another troubling sign for our world as we march to the upcoming brink. Satanism, Wicca, and a nostalgic interest in Sex Worship are taking hold among college students. Published in the online edition of the The Lantern, the student journal of Ohio State University, is a soft piece on the spread of Satanism and Wicca at the University.
One Satanist claimed his beliefs are often misrepresented:
“We don’t worship Satan as a deity. We see him as a representation of the carnal side of man and as a symbol of indulgence,” he said.
Catholics don’t see Satan as a deity either, but try to recognize when young fools have been seduced.
To further highlight the changing times, the article mentions a recent lecture series provided to students to meet the growing popularity in the occult. One of the lectures concerned the scholarly study of sex worship.
The third lecture in the series took place Jan. 25 at the Science and Engineering Library. Leigh Eric Schmidt, professor of religion at Princeton University, spoke on the life of Ida Craddock and her scholarly contributions to the study of sex worship and the sexual history of religion.
Taxpayer money well-spent?
Of course, the Wiccans jump in to say they aren’t Satanic whatsoever, but look to nature to help them cast spells:
“In Wicca you can call upon the power of a deity or spirit but there’s also some element of yourself that you’re using when casting a spell,” Campana said.
Everyone is free to practice their “religion,” but it is troubling that this is the spirituality they adopt. I wonder how sex worship or Satanism can be applied to everyday ethical dilemmas? Read more here: Occult reaches students, staff.
